About GAMP Construction
— Restoring Traditional Homes and Carrying the Culture of Wood into the Future —
We are a construction company that restores traditional homes and carries the culture of wood into the future.
The craftsmanship of GAMP Construction has been handed down since the restoration of Edo-period homes.
Wood that breathes, people who live in harmony—
we value creating homes that are loved for generations.
Each home is crafted with the hands and heart of our artisans.
We inherit the技 and spirit of the Niizuma family, whose work dates back to the Kyōhō era,
continuing to build with ancient techniques that honor the life of wood.
Homes assembled without relying on nails or metal fittings—
where wood joins with wood as if sharing a breath.
Such a home continues to live over time, quietly supporting the lives of those who dwell within.
GAMP Construction was born from choosing not to demolish, but to preserve.
By restoring wood, we also restore the richness of the human heart—
with this belief, we continue our work in building homes.
A Story of Restoration
— Choosing to Preserve, Not Destroy. —
This 280-year-old house was deemed severely damaged after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
At first, we believed there was no choice but to tear it down.
But the words of an architect and foreign guests—
“This house is a treasure of Japan”—changed everything.
It was not an end to be demolished,
but a mission to preserve and pass on.
GAMP Construction began when TADA—both as a carpenter and a family member—
decided to breathe life back into the home with his own hands.
In each beam lies the memory of ancestors.
In each wooden door, the breath of those who lived here remains.
Connecting these feelings across generations,
we continue to build homes to this day.

Scenes from the Restoration Work
A true value discovered through the aftermath of the earthquake.
Standing before a collapsed house, TADA—the owner—once believed
“there is no choice but to tear it down.”
But the words of foreign guests and architects gave him the courage to move forward.
“This is the true beauty of Japan.”
That single phrase became the spark that led to restoration.
Breathing life into a home through dialogue with wood.
Building without nails, using the natural strength of wood.
On restoration sites, we listen to each piece of timber,
preserving not only the structure but the time and stories held within it.

Craftsmanship & Philosophy
— Conversing with Wood, Shaping It into Life. —
At GAMP Construction, our homes are built using traditional carpentry—
a method that relies not on nails or metal, but on the natural strength of the wood itself.
By studying each beam and pillar—the grain, scent, and character—we craft
“breathing architecture” that aligns with the principles of nature.
We cherish the “ma”—the space and quietness—that modern homebuilding often forgets.
Our designs embrace seasonal change, the flow of wind, and the gentle movement of light.
By blending ancient wisdom and aesthetics with contemporary living,
GAMP Construction creates homes that live together with wood.
Traditional Carpentry
“Kigumi” is a traditional method of joining wood without nails or metal.
By understanding each piece of timber, we carry forward a craft that has lived through centuries.
Listening to the Voice of Wood
The grain, the scent, the flexibility—each piece of wood carries its own rhythm of life.
We honor that rhythm and bring it into daily living in the most natural way.
Creating Homes That Breathe
A home where wind flows through, light gently enters, and the seasons can be felt.
We design “breathing homes” that harmonize with nature’s cycles while fitting modern life.
TADA’s Message
— Preserving the Old, Connecting the Heart. —
Village Chief TADA Reflecting on That Time
Restoring a house is also restoring the heart.
Standing before a 289-year-old house half-destroyed by the earthquake, there were moments when I felt,
“There is no choice but to tear it down.”
But the words of visitors from abroad—“This is the true beauty of Japan”—illuminated the path toward restoration.
In every piece of wood, in every beam, the wisdom and prayers of those who came before us reside.
Once destroyed, it can never be recreated.
That is why preserving it holds such meaning.
GAMP Construction does more than restore old houses—
we revive the memories of the people who lived there and the pride of the community itself.
This is the “craft of restoration” that I hold dear.
Project Examples & Architectural Gallery
— Carrying the Memory of Wood into the Future. —
The work of GAMP Construction is not simple “repair,”
but the craft of restoration—connecting the past with the future.
Whether restoring traditional homes, building new structures, or renovating,
we always focus on creating spaces where “wood breathes and people live in harmony.”
Homes built of wood grow richer with time,
and together with the lives of those who dwell in them,
they continue to weave new stories.

Collaboration Across GAMP Village
— Creating, Nurturing, Connecting: the GAMP Cycle. —
The work of GAMP Construction does not stand alone.
Akanuma GAMP Farm, GAMP Chaya, GAMP HOUSE, Total Education Support GAMP—
every activity in GAMP Village is part of a shared cycle that supports people’s lives.
The farm offers wisdom for living with nature,
the chaya shares warmth through food,
and the education programs nurture the heart.
And GAMP Construction supports all of these through the realm of “living.”
Working with wood, grounding in earth, gathering around fire—
and connecting people to one another.
This is the “craft of coexistence” woven throughout GAMP Village.
